EDITORIAL PRINCIPLES // STEWARDSHIP

Watching with restraint

Feedsafaritickscn was written for home observers who want to understand the creatures sharing their garden hedges, ponds, and roofs without turning the outdoors into a floodlit film set.

OUR CODE OF FIELD PRACTICE

The welfare of the visitor comes before the shot

Consumer camera marketing often pushes bright white motion spotlights, loud two-way sirens, and constant smartphone notifications. Applied to garden wildlife, those features disrupt nocturnal foraging corridors and expose prey species to predators. Our guides follow three straightforward principles aligned with established field naturalist standards:

I

Leave Cover Intact

Never tie back brambles or prune protective foliage around an active nest or runway merely to clear a camera sightline. If the angle is obscured, move the stake rather than exposing the animal.

II

Eliminate Visible Artificial Light

Use natural daylight or low-intensity 940nm infrared illumination. Artificial white light at night disorients moths, alters songbird dawn singing times, and deters shy mammals from drinking stations.

III

Honest Interpretation

We encourage observers to write down exactly what the clip shows—duration, gait, weather, and posture—while resisting the urge to project human drama onto normal foraging or territorial behaviour.

INDEPENDENT PUBLISHING

No live streams, no sponsored hardware rankings

Feedsafaritickscn does not host public webcams, sell cloud subscriptions, or accept payment from camera manufacturers. Every setup diagram, sightline measurement, and logging template on this site is designed so you can apply it with modest, durable equipment you already control at home.
